Coz Everybody's Changing

“Pada akhirnya, kita juga harus merelakan teman-teman yang dulu kita anggap akrab. Some people come as a lesson, and other as a teacher” – Seorang teman akrab.
Seketika saya teringat lirik lagu Keane, Everybody’s Changing. I don’t know what the song is exactly about. But the verse which state: “Everybody’s changing and I don’t feel the same” itu seolah mewakili perasaan saya dan cukup banyak orang di luar sana. It’s true that everybody’s changing, no?

Mengalami dan merasakan perubahan pada diri sendiri, dan pada sebuah hubungan persahabatan, kekerabatan, atau hubungan interaksi apapun yang kita lakoni sebagai makhluk social adalah hal yang niscaya. Tak perlu merasa ekslusif ketika salah seorang teman menjadi berbeda. You are not alone. It’s a common case, man!

Lantas saya teringat lirik lagu Sind3ntosca: “Kini kita melangkah berjauh-jauhan, kau jauhi diriku karena sesuatu…”. There will always be at least a reason behind the change. Baik yang kita ketahui, atau yang hingga kini menjadi misteri. Paling tidak, kita perlu tau bahwasanya dalam hidup ini, ada 3 macam teman yang akan menghampiri: 1. Friends for a reason. 2. Friends for a season. 3. Friends for a lifetime. We ourselves decide which one we are to one person which we count as friend. But one thing for sure, that true friendship isn’t being inseparable. It’s being separated and nothing changes :)

Following the Language Rule

I am kind of person who apparently often act myself as a grammar police in certain situation. I admit that I also speak or write grammatically incorrect many times, even much more often that when I act as the grammar police. But now I know why that kind of awareness appears on me. First because I have learned about the grammar which I corrected, and the second is the reason that yesterday I got from the explanation of my lecturer.

Let's Make the Language Useful

One of my life principal is to not let anything just go by the board. There must be at least a new knowledge, information, everything new I get every day. And I really have to be grateful for today I have a lot of new information in my vacation venue.

Along this time, we may think that the traffic light is installed to be obeyed by the riders and the drivers on the street. Indeed, that’s true. But the reality *especially in Indonesia* doesn’t say so. Well yes it’s true that some of them obey the symbol of the traffic light which we have learned even since we were in Elementary school: red means stop, yellow is the time to be ready and green means we have to go ahead. However, we can’t deny the fact that there are still some indiscipline people who do not obey that simple rule of the traffic light. May we conclude that the people don’t understand language? Yes, they don’t understand language, even if theoretically they do understand the meaning of the traffic light symbol.
